#52: You're Never Going to 'feel like it'
Stop waiting around to chase after your fitness goals
Happy Sunday friends,
People love to push their fitness goals off to sometime in the future.
Usually they tell themselves “after xyz event I’ll really lock in".
Today I’m going to talk through why you should just start chasing after your fitness goals now instead of waiting around for ‘the perfect time’ that is never going to come.
Weekly Action Point
✏️ Write out the three most common excuses you tell yourself ✏️
This should take 5 minutes to think about.
And yes, I want you to actually write them down. It helps bring awareness to your brain and turns off your autopilot.
What are the most common excuses you tell yourself? If you want to take this a step further, you can also write out one sentence challenging or refuting your excuse.
For example:
I’m too tired after work to get a workout in → Moving my body actually gives me energy, helps me decompress from the work day, and get better sleep.
The Perfect Time Doesn’t Exist
Have you ever told yourself that you will go after your fitness goals ‘later’?
Almost everyone has told themselves some type of story about why it will be better to push their fitness goals down the line.
They’ll tell themselves that after the summer, or after a vacation, or once things slow down at work, or once the kids are older, or once they have more free time that they will start taking things seriously.
Or my favorite, and probably the most common: That they’ll wait to start on Monday.
Fitness is hard, no way around it.
And the truth is, you are never going to just wake up and feel like doing it.
Despite whatever story or excuse you want to tell yourself, the perfect time of your life to take your fitness goals seriously isn’t ever going to come around. It doesn’t exist.
Life will stay busy and crazy. You’ll always have some sort of event or life situation where you could tell yourself that now isn’t the best time.
So why wait? Why not start now? Not tomorrow or next week or on the 1st of August or in 2026, but right now, today.
You’ll be amazed at what you can achieve if you just start and stick with it.
We only have so many days to live, and every day that you waste or delay your fitness goals is a day that you aren’t getting back. It’s a day wasted that you could have otherwise been making baby steps in the right direction.
I think there is a certain level of reward and personal satisfaction that you get from doing something hard like pursuing a fitness goal, even when you don’t feel like doing it.
Hopefully this newsletter just brings awareness to it. When you start telling yourself a narrative about why you’ll start your fitness goals in the future, now you will be conscious of it.
Quit waiting for it to come to you. It will always be hard, so just start now.

A friend sent me this recipe this morning, and it’s from my Mom’s favorite food blogger, so figured it had to be good. Everyone loves a meal prep idea that is easy and healthy, so here it is:
